Steel Roof Restorations

Often referred to as iron, metal or tin roof restorations, a steel roof restoration primarily involves the cleaning, repair & painting of the roof surface to increase life and appearance of the roof sheeting.

You may not realise, that many steel roof problems cannot simply be restored by painting over the top of the existing roof surface with a standard tin of paint from your local hardware store, whilst also providing a highly durable and quality finish.

It needs to be done the right way, using proven techniques to prepare the surface correctly followed by application of high quality membrane paint systems to produce a long lasting finish.

For example, in some instances where the topcoat film on factory painted steel roof sheeting has weathered away (delaminated), often appearing as white primer patches showing through on the roof, careful preparation is required to not only restore the appearance of your roof, but to also ensure a long lasting and durable bond is maintained on the roof surface . The team at Tin Roof Restorations understands exactly the right preparation required to undertake this work and restore your home’s roof to its former glory.

Restoration process steps involve (also refer to YouTube videos on this page, showcasing the professional approach undertaken by TRR) :

• Inspection - assess & advise customer on condition of roof & recommended course of action
• Clean - high pressure clean roof surface to remove dirt, grime, lichen, moss & loose/powdery paint
• Preparation – additional preparation work as required, including leak repair, roof sheet replacement, rust treatment, painting of chimneys/gables, masking of solar panels etc
• Prime - application of water based acrylic primer (1 coat)
• Top Coat - application of 2 coats of Dulux Acratex Roof Membrane or Dulux Cool Roof (heat reflective) membrane

 

Tile Roof Restorations

The tile restoration process is similar in some respects to steel roof restorations, but can involve additional steps to deal with re-bedding and re-pointing of tile ridge caps and a surface treatment to help prevent fungus and algae growth:

• Sterilise
• Prime (1 coat)
• Top Coat (2 coats)

Please note that application of Dulux Acratex roof membrane paints are not recommended for terracotta roof tiles.
